Advance screening and fundraising party is open to the public on Thursday, Oct. 18 at 7:30pm in Venice for the launch of a new documentary on the untold story of the nation’s largest and longest lasting commune, known simply as “The Farm.” …

AMERICAN COMMUNE tells the story of two MTV producers who turned the lens on their once-controversial upbringing at The Farm, which drew international headlines, federal investigations and thousands of followers from around the world in the 1970s and 1980s during the height of the commune movement.

Decaying and nearly defunct by the turn of the millennium, it has recently been recognized for its early influence on organic farming, natural birth, vegetarianism and solar power.
