Triple-high-parking-lift-1

FEB 17, 2015 Venice – In a series of resolutions and endorsements, the Venice Neighborhood Council (VNC) approved the addition of thirty (30) automated car lifts at the Windward Circle, Venice Beach.

At the surface parking lot located at 29-47 Windward Ave., the VNC approved the addition of 30 automated/hydraulic car lifts which will ONLY increase parking capacity from 38 to a MEASLY 68 spaces!

“The most important issue facing Venice is parking and, tonight, we helped alleviate the lack of parking right at the Windward Circle,” offered President Mike Newhouse. “This kind of NUTS (and bolts) problem-solving is at the heart of why we have grass roots representation here in Los Angeles with neighborhood councils.” (Thnx, Mike, we think it’s NUTS, too!)

THIS VOTE WILL SET A PRECEDENT FOR CAR LIFTS IN VENICE – PERIOD – IS THIS WHAT WE WANT?

30 CAR LIFTS WILL ONLY MAKE 30 EXTRA PARKING SPOTS — PLEASE SIGN OUR PETITION TO MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD.  LET’S STOP THIS NOW BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE!

I love your website and your activism but if we don’t start protesting we are going to loose Venice. I was born and bred near the oakwood are. I mean more than just peace marches. We need to protest otherwise every city will turn into a playground for the rich.

    • Hi Gabriel,

Thanks for your comment. We’ve been active on the frontlines in Venice, protesting and working on behalf of both the housed and unhoused in Venice for the past 10 years!!!! You may not have been aware of this work because a lot of it is done behind closed doors, researching laws, holding meetings, writing letters, creating petitions and generally making a stand when needed.

We are now actively working with VCPUCC folks in Oakwood, and a land use attorney, on stopping the over-development of Venice (with a focus on Oakwood) by holding L.A. City accountable for selling out to developers. You will hear more about this in the weeks and months to come. Their website is http://www.savevenice.me

If you are interested in being part of the SOV group, please let us know and we will add you to the email list.

Thank you for all you do for the spirit of Venice. I have been following your site and all the issues we are facing in Venice for a long time. I am grateful for all you do. I think we need an uprising. We need to open those doors to a major rebellion. Unless we do this now, America, will no longer stand for freedom. What is taking place now in Venice is just a drop of Venice breakwater. More like a tear drop. This is what is happening all over America, and is a global problem. There are too many tears to count. Now is the time for us to collect all those tears and create a tsunami. We need to start mass rebellion. Protesting our hearts out. By any means necessary. For the future of Venice, and also the future of our existence on planet earth.
