” PATH”, flying under the radar, finds the Penmar Golf Course as the site for homeless vehicles.
Is PATH a resource of VCHC? Is Venice Arts also a resource of VCHC?
Why does PATH and CD11 choose a park site for homeless parking as it quite close to an elementary school and neighborhood park ? Why at the VNC did no one bring up the safety of the children and seniors?
Why was there no Penmar community meeting before Penmar Park was chosen by PATH/ CD11; even excluding knowledge to VNC?
Mr. Rosendahl, you are not providing the people of Venice accountability, transparency, nor fair play. You seem to have no position except your own personal agenda. Please begin to work with the “little people” and try to understand the feelings, the past history of Venice, and the harassment and gentrification many Venetians live with on a daily basis.
It might be time to do some self reflection. With communications and compromise, both sides can win. Please stop playing one side against the other. That process has failed to accomplish a thing except more bitterness.
PRO-BONO SAT MATH TUTORING AT PENMAR PARK
To allow more neighborhood children to receive the opportunity for pro bono tutoring for SAT Math, two 2 hour sessions will be offered on February 26, 2011 and March 5, 2011 at Penmar Park by retired Mark Twain Math Department Chair Rick Selan who is now a private math tutor and a pro bonospecial education advocate for low income under represented minority/ Title 1 youth.
Students need to bring a few pencils with erasers. A scientific and/or graphic calculator might be helpful, but not necessary.
Registration is by call-in to Pen Mar Park and ask for ” SAT Math Tutoring Program”. Students will be entered and given a id number and session date.
Success on SAT Math is not how much math you know, but how well you know “the tricks”. The limit is 30 students to a session. Depending on the end of the 2011 Spring semester. Grade levels of students might range from those in seventh grade algebra all the way through high school. As there are all kinds of minds, different problem solving techniques to most problems will be discussed. This test is a big puzzle that can be a lot of fun to put together.
Students are welcome to bring bottled water or a drink and snack ( non-messy) as there will be no break.
